Many of the children we serve have faced adverse childhood experiences that place them at higher risk for long lasting effects on their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Many of the children we serve exhibit high risk behaviors, such as self-harm and face challenges in various settings including their home, school and community. The children in our care are often transitioning from inpatient psychiatric hospitals and we recognize the significant obstacles they may face.
AK Child & Family is dedicated to providing a transformative, trauma informed continuum of care tailored to meet the unique needs of our community’s most vulnerable population, Alaska’s young people grappling with behavioral and psychiatric challenges. Our programs serve young children through young adults encompassing a range of services, including community-based, home and school based programs, high fidelity wrap around services, outpatient, therapeutic treatment homes, and psychiatric residential care.
Data collected through our outcomes management program consistently demonstrate the effectiveness of our programs. A significant majority of the children who complete our program, no longer engage in high risk behaviors and have transitioned to stable environments at home. These lasting results are achieved by collaborating closely with parents and guardians to develop individualized treatment plans that best meet each child’s needs.
